Surgical care for rural families
For families in rural Bolivia, getting needed surgery can mean travelling far from home and facing costs they cannot afford. NAVMC brings volunteer medical professionals together with Bolivian partners to help patients receive surgical care at no charge.
Our work connects patient screening in Palacios with surgical care in Portachuelo. Local clinic staff help identify patients, prepare them for surgery, and coordinate follow-up care. These relationships make each mission possible and help support patients after our visiting team returns home.

What we do
SURGICAL CARE
NAVMC provides surgical care for patients from rural Bolivia who otherwise face barriers to treatment. Procedures have included hernia repairs, gallbladder removal, hysterectomies, and other operations. We work with the Susan Hou Clinic in Palacios to identify surgical candidates and help coordinate their care.
Our volunteers contribute their time and professional skills. Donor support helps provide the supplies, medicines, and patient care needed for these missions.
Making a difference
WHy this work matters
An untreated surgical condition can keep someone from working, caring for family, or enjoying everyday life. For a child, it can mean years of pain and missing out on play. Access to surgery gives patients an opportunity to recover and return to the activities that matter to them. Your support helps NAVMC provide care without charging patients for their surgeries.
